Jessie Holton - Aussie SU Demo : Stampin Dreams Sept Blog Hop - Favourite Technique - Blends

Hi Crafters!

Today I'm hopping along with the Stampin' Dreams Crew & we are showing you our favourite techniques. I have been having lots of fun learning how to use the Blends, so I thought I'd show you some samples of the This Little Piggy cards I made for my recent Stamp Camp. Everyone got a Petal Pink Blends Combo (light & dark) & a Granny Apple Green Blends Combo (light & dark). I'm relatively new to adult colouring & I've never used alcohol markers before the Blends, but these are so beautiful & easy to use!

These first two card bases use the light of the two colours to draw stripes on the background. We have used the Petal Pink & Silver Bakers Twine for the bows. All these samples use Whisper White Notecards.

All the pigs are stamped with Momento on Thick Whisper White cardstock. You need to remember that opposites attract when mixing products. Blends are alcohol based, so you need to use a waterbased ink. Likewise, when using watercolour, you need to use an alcohol based ink. If you use same with same, everything will blend. I have started with the lightest colour, added shadow & details with the darker colour & then blended with the lighter colour.

Here are some samples using the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper. This is a 6"x6" stack.

Here is my 'happy as a pig in mud' sample, using the Swirls & Curls embossing folder on Soft Suede cardstock. This is a new embossing folder from the Holiday Catalog.

And our 3D project 'this little piggy goes to market', uses the Wood Words stamp set & Wood Crate dies, cut on Wood Textures DSP. I have used the 1-1/8" Scallop Punch in Petal Pink cardstock for the sign, which is on a toothpick. Tear & Tape adhesive works best putting these together. And I think they fit in the Gusseted Bags, but I don't have any at present.

The little crate holds three Ferrero Rochers... I'm not sure what happened to my third one though...

And lastly, a little sample using the Delightfully Detailed Notecards & Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut DSP, with the pig stamped in Petal Pink ink & the Petal Pink ribbon from the Metallic Combo Pack for an easy but pretty card!
